Five days till I fly back to England. I'm going to be sad to leave Chicago, and obviously sad to leave Natalie for a little while longer. I am really enjoying being here, in a different place, seeing new things and meeting new people.
We've been hanging out, it's a lovely house. It's been great meeting the family, Sarah is an amazing cook, which hopefully is teaching Natalie a thing or two, although she's already a great cook ;)
Just seeing the city skyline is amazing, catching the Metra, riding on the CTA trains, watching people, living in America, it's very interesting.
The other night we went to a Jazz club called 'The Green Mill' which was an experience. It was 'serious' Jazz. No-one talked while the jazz was going on. People were just nodding and saying stuff like 'yeah' and 'cool'. Which was good because it was pretty cool. Patricia Barber was performing along with a few other guys. Cool. Nice. Yeah.
Sunday was really cool. I went to a church Natalie's been to a few times and met Claire (or is that Clare?) who is friends with my friend Ashley who's from Chicago. It was Easter. Jesus has died for my sins. He rose again. How good is our God?
I tell you what, Jesus is King of Chicago. Jesus is king of every city, every town, every place, every people, every time. Jesus is king. Right now I'm listening to a worship song called 'You are my king'. He IS King. Now it's just gone into a section of another song which is repeating a line 'If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed'.
How true is that.
There are certain times when God calls to us, we might have been feeling a little dry, maybe we've wondered off doing our own thing, but God calls. He loves us so much more than we can imagine.
If I could just maintain how I am feeling right now, what God is stirring in me... He is all that matters. Nothing else is important, no matter how much we think different. He is all that's important in this life.
Whatever you are doing right now, lay it aside and focus on Him.
He is King. Make Him your king.
'If the Son has set you free, you are free indeed'.
Well, we're having an amazing time! I am not going to want to go back to the UK, I love America. If I could just pack up all my family and friends, and move them over here, that'd be perfect.
I hope you're enjoying all the photo's and seeing what we've been upto. I am enjoying it all for you Ashley! Chicago told me that it misses you very much ;)
Today, we went shopping in Wal*Mart. Nice. The American dream.
Anyway, I will post more later, there's just too much to do here to be logging onto Blogger every ten minutes.
Pray for my brother and the team from church as they travel to Belarus over the next few days.
Later kids.
We witnessed a demonstration, there were lots and lots of Cops..everywhere.
Lots of Swearing too. Must be how you do a protest. The swearing must help. no?
Actually, I don't wear these all the time. I mainly just wear them when I'm on my own, to aid with reflection time and personal development.
I was talking with Dave on msn about getting distracted from focusing on Jesus. Why is it so easy to get thrown off track, by all kinds of silly things?
Actually, you don't 'get thrown off track' really do you, you choose to take your eyes off Him.
Anyway, it's so important to keep your focus on Him. He is ALL that's really important!
I wish I could retain that in my brain 100% of the time. How about you? How do you get distracted?
